Environmental Resources Protection

Mandate:

The mandate of the ERP Committee shall include but not be limited to the following:

  • Assessing and monitoring all environmental issues;
  • To act as liaison and coordinating vehicle for CUPE Alberta Division with other environmental committees from other labour and community groups;
  • To advise, assist and provide direction to the Alberta Division, its' affiliates on all matters of environmental concern; and
  • To promote the policies and principles of CUPE that relate to the Environment.

Environmental tip for May

Take the two (2) mile challenge, anything u can do by walking or riding your bike within a 2 mile radius of your home base.

Environmental tip for April

Donate clothing, shoes, appliances, furniture or any other house hold items that are reusable instead of filling up our landfill sites.

Environmental tip for March

Save water in your house when brushing your teeth by turning off the water when you are not rinsing your tooth brush.

Join a car pool or consider public transit.

Replace disposables where ever possible with reusable ones.

Alberta Water Futures Tour

CUPE Alberta is working with the 'Our Water is Not for Sale" coalition to raise awareness of the damage water markets are doing to Alberta communities.

Earth Day: Members drive green victories

CUPE members are driving environmental action at work and in their communities. On Earth Day 2010, the CUPE National Environment Committee is focusing on some of the many wins our members have made to help make the planet greener, healthier and more sustainable.

World Water Day on Sunday

The Council of Canadians and the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) are partnering to launch a new initiative aimed at protecting water from privatization in the lead up to World Water Day 2009.
